The surface of the cap is dry, velvety in young specimens, the color is brown at first, somewhat brightens with age, often covered with dull blurred spots. The flesh of the cap is white at first, becoming yellowish with age, turning slightly pink at the break. The milky juice is white, pungent, reddening in the air. The smell is weak, indefinite.

Short (up to 6 cm in height) and thick (1-1,5 cm), dense, slightly widened at the base, becoming hollow with age, the color of the cap or lighter.

The brownish milkweed appears in July, preferring broad-leaved and birch forests, and grows until about mid-September.

Speċi simili:

The brown milkweed (Lactarius lignyotus) grows in coniferous forests, has a darker hat, a long stem and wide plates.

L-ikel:

milky brownish jittieklu to a greater extent than other little-known milkers: not very bitter juice and the absence of extraneous odors eliminate the need for prolonged soaking or boiling, and a strong constitution makes this mushroom a good addition to a tank with salty nigella, volnushki and other “noble” milkers.
